Born in France, First Prize at the Paris Conservatory in Jane Barbié?s class and First Prize in the s?Hertogenbosch Competition, Sophie Koch first performed in France (notably at the Châtelet in Paris, in Marseille and Strasbourg). In 1997-98, Sophie Koch debutes at the Royal Opera House London with great success as Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and Dorabella (Così fan tutte, conduced by Sir Colin Davis); played at the Schwetzingen Festpiele (Don Giovanni ? Zerlina, conduced by Thomas Hengelbrock). She also participated in the Wiener Festwochen in Monteverdi?s Orfeo. In 1998-99 she is invited to sing in Geneva Cendrillon (The Prince) by Massenet; Mercedes at the Bastille Opera House. She debutes at the Semper Oper Dresden as Komponist (Adriane auf Naxos conduced by Sir Colin Davis) and sings in Monteverdi?s Orfeo.\n1999-2000: she debutes the Wiener Staatsoper as Cherubino and Octavian, and she sings in Essen Dorabella (M° S.Soltesz), in Dresden Cherubino and Komponist (M° Sinopoli), Zerlina at the Bastille Opera House, and the Salzbourg Festival (M° Lorin Maazel). 2000-2001: she will sing Octavian in Rosenkavalier at the Semper Oper (with S. Bychkov) and also Sextus in La clemenza di Tito, Silla (Palestrina) and Cenerentola (title role) at Covent Garden and Cherubino at La Monnaie of Brussels. 2001-2002: she is at Bavarian Opera and in Japan (with M° Metha) as Zerlina and Dorabella. In Dresden Octavian, in Vienna Cherubino, Octavian and Rosina, in Paris Rosina. 2002-2003 in London (Komponist with A.Papano). She also does many recitals and concerts, notably at the Jerusalem Sympohny Orchestra, at the Orchestre du Capitole with M° Plasson. In 1998 she is recording Lieder by Wolf and Schubert on poems by Goethe and in 1999 a music chamber CD with works by Fauré, Chausson and Respighi for le Le Chante du Monde. She also appears in the EMI Manon recording with M° Papano, Georghiu and Alagna and in the world premiere of Laurent Petitgirard Elefant Man. |
