Lü Jia was born in Shangai in 1964. Following his move to Europe in 1989 he was shortly afterward appointed Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Trieste Opera, a position he held until 1995. He is presently Principal Conductor of the Orchesta della Toscana in Florence.\n\nSince winning the Pedrotti Competition, Lü Jia has worked extensively in Italy and Germany with such orchestras as Santa Cecilia Rome, Bologna Opera. RAI Turin, NDR Hamburg, Bamberg Symphony, Frankfurt Opera Orchestra and the Deutsche Oper. During recent seasons he has made highly successful debuts with a number of important orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Orchestre National de Lyon and Oslo Philharmonic, Stockholm Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras.
