Daniela Bruera was born in Cagliari, where she studied music at the P. da Palestrina Conservatory. |
She then moved to Milan, attending the singing courses at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory. |
In 1990 she won the As.Li.Co. Competition, which gave her the chance to debut in Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans, a work subsequently revisited in Naples with the Orchestra Sinfonica della Rai led by Alberto Zedda. |
Daniela Bruera began her successful career taking part in a tour of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte to the North of Italy, in Händel's Trionfo del Tempo e della Verità and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in Milan, as well as in the first modern performance of Cimarosa's L'amor rende sagace , with the staging of Enzo Dara (recorded for Bongiovanni). |
For the celebrations of Rossini's bicentenary, she travelled to Korea and Japan to perform in Petite Messe Solennelle and Il signor Bruschino, under the baton of Alberto Zedda. |
Her past seasons highlights include several successful debuts in some of the most important Italian theatres (Sassari, Cagliari, Bergamo, Cremona, Torino, Ravenna, Como, Milan): in the roles of Giulia (La scala di seta), Rita (La Rita), Lucy (The Telephone by Menotti), Lisette (La Rondine), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Elisetta (Il matrimonio segreto), Clarice (La Locandiera di Auletta) and Iole (L'ercole amante by Cavalli). |
She also sang in Gluck's Armide for the 1996/7 season opening of the Teatro alla Scala, under the baton of Riccardo Muti. |
Daniela Bruera has subsequently travelled to Germany, where she specialised under the guidance of Anna Reynolds. In the 1998/9 season she sang in the Opera Bonn Ensemble performing, among others, the roles of Woglinde (Das Rheingold), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Maria (West Side Story), Nannetta (Falstaff). |
Since 1999 she has been engaged at the Staatsoper in Berlin, where she has debuted the roles of Carolina (Il matrimonio segreto), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), as well as the role of Despina in a new production of Così fan tutte under the baton of Daniel Baremboim. |
She has just made her debut at Wexford Opera Festival in a new production of Mirandolina (title-role), and toured throughout Germany in L'elisir d'amore. |
Daniela Bruera will perform in La Bohème (Musetta) in Cagliari, in the title role of Mirandolina at the Teatro Rossini di Lugo. |
