| Bojidar Nikolov comes from Sofia, Bulgaria. After studying chemistry, he studied singing at the Higher School of Music in Sofia. Winner at the ³Madama Butterfly² singer-competition in Miami, he started a professional career at the Wiener Staatsoper, where he has sung as soloist for five years. @ @His vast repertoire includes such roles as Riccardo in Un ballo in Maschera, the title role in Don Carlo, Don Alvaro in La forza del destino, Alfredo in La traviata, Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto, Macduff in Macbeth, Radames in Aida, Don Josè in Carmen, Licinius in La Vestale, Polione in Norma, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Lenski in Evgenij Onegin, Naraboth in Salome, sung in some of the main concert and theatrical institutions throughout the world.@He performs regularly at the Wiener Staatsoper, the Music Festival in Salzburg with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gran Teatre de Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, the Théâtre Municipal de Luxembourg, the Athens Concert Hall, and on the most important stages of Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, Holland, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Us.@ @After an intense co-operation with Placido Domingo in Seville and Washington on Le Cid by Massenet, during 2000 Bojidar Nikolov has sung the role of Manrico in Il Trovatore in Washington, conducted by Domingo. He has subsequently performed in Norma (Staatsopera Berlin) and in a new production of Madama Butterfly at the Frankfurt Opera.@ @Under the baton of Claudio Abbado, Bojidar Nikolov recorded Il viaggio a Reims for Sony, and Kovantschina and Lohengrin on the Deutsche Grammophon label.@ @ |
