| Tenor Ilya Levinsky pursued his studies at the Academy of Music in his native Baku, Azerbaijan, joining the city's opera company in 1987. In 1991, he took part in the summer opera productions of the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta and has joined them every summer since. In 1992, he sang the role of Ernesto in "Don Pasquale" with the Welsh National Opera and was subsequently contracted by the Komische Oper in Berlin. He has also sung with the Frankfurt Opera, Netherlands Opera, at the Bregenz Festival, the Salzburg Festival (in both opera and concert) and with symphony orchestras - under conductors including Lorin Maazel, Neeme Järvi, Michel Plasson, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Myung-Whun Chung, Vladimir Fedoseyev, and Christoph von Dohnányi. |
