| Giovanna Donadini started her musical studies at the 'Benedetto Marcello' Conservatory in Venice, in 1993 she graduated at 'Accademia di Arte Lirica e Corale' in Osimo led by Alberto Zedda. She is the winner of several national and international competitions such as «V Concorso di Musica Vocale da Camera» of Conegliano (1986), the «Toti dal Monte» of Treviso (1990), the «Concours International de Chant» of Toulouse (1993) and of Bilbao (1994). |
| Her career brought her to perform under the baton of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Giancarlo Andreatta, Marco Armiliato, Maurizio Benini, Claudio Desderi, Armando Gatto, Nicola Giusti, Eric Hull, Peter Maag, Elisabetta Maschio, Carlo Palleschi, Stefano Ranzani, Carlo Rebeschini and Stefan Anton Reck. |
| She made her debuts in Selva morale e spirituale by Monteverdi at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Le nozze di Figaro (Contessa) and Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso, and again Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) at the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo and at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina. She also sang Il barbiere di Siviglia (Berta) at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, I turchi amanti by Cimarosa (Rossolane), Così fan tutte at the Suntory Hall of Tokyo, Americano by Piccinni (Donna Aurora) at the Festival of Martina Franca, Le nozze di Figaro (Marcellina) and Tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi at the Teatro Verdi di Sassari. |
| During the 1997/8 season she performed in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Palafenice di Venezia under Karabetchevski, Falstaff at the Politeama Greco di Lecce directed by Mariani, Così fan tutte at the Festival Mozartiano of Rovereto and at the Teatro Verdi di Sassari directed by Daniele Abbado, Il cantico dei tre fanciulli by Hasse conducted by Bosman, L'Armida immaginaria by Cimarosa at the Festival of Martina Franca and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Arena of Avenches and at the Teatro Verdi di Pisa. |
| In 1999 she has been engaged as Masha and La Governante in Piqeu Dame by Ciaikowskij inaugurating the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, as Berta in Barbiere di Siviglia at the Bellinzona Opera Festival and as Megabise in Artaserse at the Teatro Rossini di Lugo under Rinaldo Alessandrini. |
| She has recently performed as Despina in Così fan tutte at the Teatro Verdi di Pisa and at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, in Trento and Rovigo, in Il trovatore at the Teatro Regio di Parma, in Il Re a caccia at the Teatro Goldoni di Venezia, as well as in Die Zauberflöte at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma and in Montepulciano, in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Regio di Torino, at the Opéra de Montecarlo, at the Teatro alla Scala and at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where she has just sung in Dido and Aeneas and Les Troyens. Giovanna Donadini has just made her role debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in the theatres of Pisa, Prato and Siena. |
| Among her future engagements are the return to Florence in Le nozze di Figaro, performances of La volpe astuta at the Teatro alla Scala, Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, and Così fan tutte at the Teatro Regio di Torino, under the baton of Corrado Rovaris. |
| Her concert activity brought her to perform Krönungsmesse by Mozart and Gloria by Vivaldi at the Salzburg Festival (recorded by RAI), Stabat Mater and Petite messe solennelle by Rossini, Messiah by Händel and Te Deum by Charpentier at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Requiem by Mozart and IX Symphony by Beethoven at the Suntoy Hall in Tokyo. |
