Carlo Lepore was born in Naples but lives in Rome, where he studied singing under the guidance of Alessandra Gonzaga and graduated at the University in Law. He was the winner of several competitions, such as International Baroque Singing Competition " G. S. Pergolesi " in Rome and the European Competition of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale A. Belli (1992) in Spoleto, where he made his brilliant debuts in Salieri?s Locandiera (Marchese di Forlimpopoli), in L?elisir d'amore (Dulcamara; with the staging of Gregoretti), Il figliol prodigo by Britten (Padre) and Il ballo delle ingrate by Monteverdi (Plutone). Carlo Lepore attended the specialising courses at the Wiener Kammeroper with Edelman and Bernet (Mozart repertoire), at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena with Bergonzi and Alberti, at the Accademia Lirica Mantovana under the guidance of Montarsolo and at the Accademia Rossiniana di Pesaro with Zedda.

Highlights of his several past performances include the title role in Donizetti?s Don Pasquale, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, 1992, under the baton of Bellugi), Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte (Stadttheater Klagenfurt, 1995), Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola (Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Teatro Brancaccio di Roma), Leporello in Don Giovanni (Spoleto, Perugia, Terni, Orvieto, Todi), the title role in Don Chisciotte by Solci (Ravenna Festival, 1994), Conte Robinson in Il matrimonio segreto (Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Lu Jia conductor), Pulcinella in Il convitato di pietra by Tritto (Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, 1995, staged by De Simone), Maestro in Le convenienze e inconvenienze teatrali by Donizetti (San Carlo, 1997, led by Peter Maag), Gianpaolo Lasagna in Le astuzie femminili by Cimarosa (Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina, 1996), as well as Colline in La Bohème (Teatro Rendano di Cosenza, Morandi conductor), Mustafà in L'italiana in Algeri (S.Cruz de Tenerife), Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Paisiello (Teatro dei Rinnovati di Siena), Don Carissimo in La Dirindina by Scarlatti, Nibbio in L'impresario delle Canarie by G. B. Martini (Messina) and Filippo di Coburgo in Mayerling by Giuranna (Opera di Roma), Vescovo in La fiamma at the Wexford Opera Festival 1997, Don Pomponio in Auletta's La locandiera (Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna, 1998), Norton in La cambiale di matrimonio in Trieste, Bartolomeo in Il furioso all'isola di S. Domingo at the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo (1998) conducted by Gustav Kuhn, zio Bonzo in Madama Butterfly at the Arena di Verona (1999).

Carlo Lepore also enjoys an intense activity in the baroque repertory. He performed operas by Monteverdi (L'Orfeo, Chaise Dieu Festival - Francia Varatolo conductor), Peri (Euridice, Plutone; Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Alan Curtis conductor), Haendel (Polifemo in Acis & Galatea, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara and V. Emanuele of Messina; Achille in Giulio Cesare, Opéra de Montecarlo), Vivaldi (La Senna festeggiante under the baton of Alessandrini at the Metropolitan Museum in New York), Vitali (Aretusa), Ferrari (Sansone, led by Curtis at the Sagra Musicale Umbra), Cavalieri (Gli amori di Apollo e Dafne) and Sartorio (L'Orfeo for the Festival "A vagheggiare Orfeo" in Fano under the baton of P. Pizzi).

On the concert side, he sang at the Rossini Opera Festival di Pesaro, Settimana Musicale Senese (Eumelio by Agazzari), Macerata Opera Festival (Le tre ore d'agonia and Giordani's Passio), Konzerthaus in Berlin with the "Complesso barocco" and the "Febi armonici", Innsbruck Festival, Ravenna Festival (Nove icone per una madre), L'autunno musicale of the San Carlo di Napoli (Il divertimento dei Numi by Paisiello) under the baton of Scimone, Terme di Caracalla in The Chicester psalms by Bernstein with Oren, Rai in Rome (Turandot, Timur; 1997). He also sang Schubert's Winterreise at the Teatro Ghione di Roma, in Spoleto and at the Teatro di Todi , as well as lieder by Wagner at the Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna and Un canzoniere italiano by Wolf-Ferrari (Wexford Opera Festival). He recorded for RAI, Stream, ORF and Radio France, Deutschland Radio and Radio Espana.

Highlights of his recent engagements include interpretations of Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Bellini di Catania under the baton of Pesko, Giorgio in Nina, o sia la pazza per amore by Paisiello at the Piccolo di Milano conducted by Riccardo Muti and at the Ravenna Festival 2000, Il Faraone in Mosè in Egítto at the Opéra de Montecarlo led by Benini and staged by Pizzi, le Gouverneur in Le Comte Ory at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova (directed by Pizzi), Hieros in Le Siège de Corinthe at the Rossini Opera Festival di Pesaro, Mustafà in L'italiana in Algeri at the Teatro alla Scala.

He will sing again as Mustafà at the Opernhaus in Zurich, in Rinaldo at the Politeama Greco di Lecce, La Cenerentola (Alidoro) at the Opéra de Marseille, and he will return to Pesaro for Adina ovvero il Califfo di Bagdad.
