Ludovit Ludha graduated at the University of Dramatic Arts - Music Faculty in Bratislava in the class of Professor Vlasta Hudecová. During his university studies he took part in a tour with Beethoven's C-Dur Mass in Italy. Since 1988 he has been soloist of the Sloyak National Opera in Bratislava. |
Winner of the Singer's Competition of the Czechoslovak Art Universities, he made his opera debut singing in Schönberg's Moses and Aaron at the Salzburger Festspiele with James Levine. |
Highlights of his past engagements include such performances as Faust at the Jerusalem Festival, Alfredo in La traviata on a Japan tour, Roméo et Juliette (Roméo) and La Bohème (Rodolfo) at Prague National Theatre and in Karlsruhe, Iris at the Wexford Festival and at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma together with Nicolai Ghiaurov, Mefistofele, Don Carlo, Cosi fan tutte and La Sonnambula in Bratislava ?árka (Fibich) at the Wexford Festival and, more recently, Jenufa in Prague and Die tote Stadt in Kyoto. |
In addition to his vast operatic repertoire, Ludovit Ludha maintains an active schedule of performances with orchestras throughout the world. His concert repertoire includes such works as Mozart's Requiem (Ankara, Salzburg and Cremona), Dvorak's Stabat mater (Utrecht and Amsterdam), Carmina burana (Bratislava), Haydn's Nelson Mass (Milan), Bach's Cantatas (Turin), Glagolitic Mass (Spain, Paris, Lisboa, Liverpool), Die Krönungsmesse (Salzburg), Les Noces by Stravinsky (Berlin; with.Ashkenazy and recorded for DECCA), as well as Kodály Te Deum, Requiem by Verdi and Dvorák, Stabat Mater by Rossini. |
In 1999 he returned to Bratislava to perform as Fenton in Falstaff , as Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and in Hummel Mass in E flat, sang the role of Lensky in Evgenij Onegin in Metz, King Roger in Montreal and at Carnegie Hall of New York, Mozart's Requiem in Prague with Neville Marriner and in Bratislava, Verdi's Requiem in Jena, The Lady Macbeth of Mcensk in Madrid. |
2000 brought Ludovit Ludha to Naples, Munich and Dijon to perform in The Lady Macbeth of Mcensk under the baton of Rostropovich, to Montpellier for Janacek's The Makropulos Case (Vitek), to Bratislava to sing in The Seven Last Words from the Cross by Haydn, to Paris for Oedipus Rex with Dutoit, to Taipei for Glagolitic Mass under the baton of Peskó, to Budapest to take part with Ligeti in The Bells, to Manchester and Leeds for Dvorák's Requiem and Stabat Mater. |
More recently, he returned to Budapest for Oedipus Rex, he performed in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk in Buenos Aires, in Glagolitic Mass with MDR Sinfonieorchester with Janowski, Prokina, Tarasova and Kotcherga in Leipzig, in Szymanowski's Symphony No.3 in Paris, Jenufa and La Bohème in Prague, Berlioz's Te Deum, Beethoven's IX Symphony, Dvorak Requiem, Rigoletto and The coq d'or in Bratislava, Carmina burana with Daniele Gatti in Parma and Bologna and La traviata on a Japan tour organised by Opera Bratislava. He has just obtained great success singing Die tote Stadt and King Roger with Dutoit in Tokyo, Amarus at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon and Carmina Burana and L'ufficiale della guardia at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. |
