Eva, Elsa, Elisabeth, Senta and Isolde - the young Wagner women are the speciality of the blond German soprano with the shimmering voice. Kaiserin, Arabella, Ariadne, Chrysothemis, Daphne and Salome are parts, which give you the impression, that Strauss wrote the music just for such a particular type of soprano. Good looks, intensive acting and beautiful singing are the secrets of the artist.

In autumn and summer 2005 Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka gave her debut as Amalia in a concert performances of Verdi’s I Masnadieri at the Herbstliche Musiktage Bad Urach under the baton of Roberto Paternostro and as Chrysothemis in Richard Strauss’ Elektra with marvellous success and sang the revival of Wagner’s Siegfried - Brünnhilde - at the Festival of Erl under the baton of Gustav Kuhn.

In autumn 2004 she gave her debut as Leonore in Beethoven’s Fidelio at the Opera Graz with very big success.

In autumn 2003 she had marvellous success as Senta in The Flying Dutchman at the Opera Halle and as Adelasia in Siegfried Wagner’s world premiere of Rainulf und Adelasia at the Herbstliche Musiktage Bad Urach. In summer 2003 she sang the title part of Ariadne auf Naxos at the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos Lisboa.

In summer 2002 she sang the title part of Daphne at the International Richard-Strauss-Days Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Magna peccatrix in Mahler’s Symphony N° 8 under the baton of Adam Fischer with very big success.

In autumn 2001 she sang the part of Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the San Francisco Opera, followed by Elsa / Lohengrin in a gala performance at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, guest appearances with Beethoven’s Symphony N° 9 in Tokyo (Orchard Hall and Metropolitan Hall).

In June 2001 she gave her debut at the State Opera Vienna as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser with very big success.

Amongst the important engagements of her in the season 2000 / 2001 should be mentioned: Concerts at the Opera Graz (Magna peccatrix in Mahler’s Symphony N° 8) and at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf (Beethoven’s Symphony N° 9) as well as Senta in The Flying Dutchman at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste and the revival of Korngold’s The Dead City at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

In spring 2000 she sang the title role in the new production of Ariadne auf Naxos at the Teatro San Carlo Naples, Beethoven‘s Symphony N° 9 at the Gewandhaus Leipzig as well as with the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio Munich under the baton of Lorin Maazel, gave her role debut as Marietta / Marie in a new production of Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s The Dead City at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and appeared at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden (Semperoper) as Senta in The Flying Dutchman.

After her great success as Elsa in concert performances of Lohengrin with the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk Leipzig under the baton of Fabio Luisi at the Schauspielhaus Berlin and the Gewandhaus Leipzig in March 1999, she sang Brünnhilde in Siegfried at the Festival of Erl in summer 1999 under the baton of Gustav Kuhn as well as Beethoven‘s Symphony N° 9 with the Orchestre National de Lyon under the baton of Claus Peter Flor in Besançon. In November 1999 she interpreted Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs under the baton of Stefan Vladar in Graz / Stefaniensaal.

During last seasons, Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka’s engagements also included: Giacomo Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots / Valentine at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Guntram / Freihild at the International Richard-Strauss-Days Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Mahler’s Symphony N° 2 with Orchestre National de Lille, Tannhäuser / Elisabeth at the Teatro San Carlo Naples and Lohengrin / Elsa at the State Opera Prague.

In the meantime, Arte Nova has presented several live opera recordings with Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka in major roles such as: Guntram / Freihild (International Richard-Strauss-Days 1998), Siegfried / Brünnhilde (Festival of Erl 1999), Ariadne auf Naxos / title part (Naples 2000).

Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka continued her studies with Lorenz Fehenberger and Josef Metternich, in master classes with Erika Köth and Erik Werba, and she was prizewinner of numerous vocal competitions in Germany. She also works with Ute Vinzing, Marga Schiml and Klaus von Wildemann from the Bavarian State Opera Munich. First engagements took place at Opera Bonn, State Opera Hamburg and Niedersächsisches Staatstheater Hannover.

Future projects include among others: Isolde in Richard Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde, Brünnhilde in Richard Wagner’s Siegfried, Turandot in Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot and Leonore in Beethoven’s Fidelio.
