Born in Kazakhstan of Greek parentage, she studied at the conservatory in Alma-Ata. After moving to Greece she sang Konstanze with Athens State Opera and Donna Anna at the Athens Megaron (directed by Ruggero Raimondi). |
She made her Royal Opera debut as Voice from Heaven ('Don Carlos') and returned as Violetta, which brought her to international attention. She has since then sung Cleopatra, the Queen of Shemakha ('The Golden Cockerel'), Mimì, Giulietta, ('I Capuleti e i Montecchi') and Amina ('La sonnambula') for The Royal Opera. |
Elsewhere she has sung Rossini's Desdemona (Vienna Festival), Violetta (Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Monte Carlo), Tatyana (Montpellier), Gilda (Rio de Janeiro, Toulouse), Susanna (Dallas) and Mimì (Munich, Opéra-Bastille). Her plans include Mimì (debut at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera) and her role debut as Zerlina in Paris. |
