Studied London with Alan and Studholm. Début as soprano London, ENO, 1977 (Bertha, 'Euryanthe'). Sang soprano roles until 1980; further study with Salaman and Veasey. London, CG, and Gly., 1983; O North, from 1986. Roles include Orfeo, Amneris, Dido (Berlioz), Charlotte, Carmen, Octavian, Nefertiti ('Akhnaten'), Julie La Verne ('Showboat'). A highly attractive performer with a fresh voice and a strong stage presence.
