Golaud in 'Pélleas et Mélisande' is Willard White's debut role at the Met, a role he has recently sung in Amsterdam and with the San Francisco Opera. The Jamaican bass-baritone is also heard this season as Jaroslav Prus in 'The Makropoulos Case' at the Aix-in-Provence Festival, Klingsor in 'Parsifal' at Covent Garden, Sparafucile in 'Rigoletto' at Paris' Bastille Opera, and in a new opera by John Adams, 'Nativity', at the Châtelet in Paris. In addition, he has been heard at the Salzburg Festival, Netherlands Opera, English National Opera, Brussels' 'La Monnaie', and Welsh National Opera.
