Patricia Johnson opened the 2005-2006 season as Mimi in La Bohème for the Connecticut Grand Opera. She continues the season as the Three Heroines in Les Contes dHoffmann with El Paso Opera and will be soprano soloist in the Brahms Requiem with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
Recent career highlights for the Kansas City native have included Pamina with the Sarasota Opera, Liù in Turandot with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Helena in Brittens A Midsummer Nights Dream for the Utah Opera, Mimi in La Bohème for the Connecticut Grand Opera, Gilda with the Prague State Opera, Konstanza in Die Entfürung aus dem Serail for the Komische Oper, the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor with El Paso Opera, Violetta in La traviata for Arizona Opera, Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago, Chile, Madame Herz in Mozarts The Impresario with Connecticut Grand Opera, directed by Christopher Alden, and Handels Messiah at the Utrecht Baroque Festival in Holland. She was also Lucia di Lammermoor for the Cleveland Opera, Adele in Die Fledermaus with the Sarasota Opera, Violetta in La traviata with Opera Delaware, Juliette in Gounods Roméo et Juliette with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and performed the title roles in both Lucia di Lammermoor and La traviata with El Paso Opera. Her concert schedule has included performances with the Colorado Springs Symphony and the Florida Philharmonic in performances of the complete Messiah, and with the Arkansas Symphony in Karl Orffs Carmina Burana, concerts with Polish Radio Orchestra in Katowitce and a Viennese recital debut in Barocksaal, Altes Rathaus, Vienna.
The New York City Opera has provided Miss Johnson with an opportunity to portray a variety of roles. In addition to Gilda and Violetta, her repertoire at that house has included Micaela in Carmen, Nanetta in Falstaff opposite Sherrill Milnes, Antonia in Les Contes dHoffmann, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro and Valencienne in The Merry Widow in a Live from Lincoln Center broadcast.
Miss Johnson has made numerous appearances with the Opera Orchestra of New York. Under the baton of Eve Queler, she has sung performances of Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. Other bel canto roles to her credit with the company include Amina in La sonnambula, Elvira in I puritani and the title roles in Armida and Linda di Chamounix. Miss Johnson repertoire also includes Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Blanche in Les Dialogues des Carmélites, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Eurydice in Milhauds Les malheurs dOrfée and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, No stranger to contemporary opera, Miss Johnson sang the role of Air in the world premiere of Ashokas Dream at the Santa Fe Opera, Helena in Brittens A Midsummer Nights Dream at the Houston Grand Opera and also appeared in that companys world premiere of Desert of Roses.
