Jonathan Miller's first career was as a doctor of medicine. Following the unparalleled success of Beyond the Fringe in the early 1960's at the Edinburgh Festival, in London and then New York, his career expanded into theatre and television and now covers many fields - author, lecturer, broadcaster, opera and theatre director, televison producer and presenter. Miller's many highly acclaimed opera productions include the famous productions for the ENO of Rigoletto, Mikado, Turn of the Screw, Carmen, Der Rosenkavalier, La Traviata and elsewhere, Cosi fan Tutte (Covent Garden), Katya Kabanova and Pelleas et Melisande (Met) Figaro (Vienna Staatsoper), Anna Bolena (Bayerischer Staatsoper), Figaro, Don Giovanni, La Bohème (Maggio Musicale/Bastille).
