The British tenor Alan Oke studied at the Royal Sottish Academy of Music and Drama and in Germany under Hans Hotter. |
After a successful career as a baritone he made his debut as a tenor in "Ariadne on Naxos" as Brighella for Garsington Opera. He performed roles since as Alfredo in "La Traviata" (Opera North, Castleward Opera and Glyndebourne Touring Opera), Leartes in "Hamlet", Rodolfo in "La Bohème" (Opera North, Opera South and New Zealand Opera), Camille Desmoulins in "Dantons Tod" (New Sussex Opera), Rinuccio in "Gianni Schicchi" (Central Festival Opera), Gonzalve in "The Spanish Hour" (New Zealand Opera), Boris in "Kata Kabanova" and Sergei in "Paradise Moscow" (Opera North), Pygmalion in "The Beautiful Galathea" (Buxton) and Pinkerton in "Madama Butterfly" (Raymond Gubbay production in Royal Albert Hall). |
He recently participated among others in "Fidelio" (Holland Park), Julietta (Opera North), "La Traviata" (Grange Park), "The Magic Flute" (Royal Opera House) and Caterina Cornaro under Richard Bonynge which also appeared on cd. He performed prior in "Death in Venice" (Gustav von Aschenbach) at Opera Zuid. |
