| The soprano triumphed as Violetta in La traviata at the opening of the 1995/6 season at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. The following season she made her debut in the role of the Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. In 1997/8 she was heard as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, as Desdemona in Rossini's Otello at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and as Fiorilla in Rossini's Il turco in Italia at Teatro Regio di Parma. |
| In 1998/9 season she performed, among others, in Zelmira in Paris and Lyon and in Don Giovanni at the Ravenna Festival with Riccardo Muti. |
| Mariella Devia obtained great success with her performances of Adelia at the Carnagie Hall in New York, Otello at the Royal Opera House-Covent Garden in London, La traviata and La sonnambula at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Don Giovanni at the Opéra National de Paris, in Rome and in Naples, Lucia di Lammermoor in Cagliari, Catania and Naples, I puritani at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Rigoletto at the Associazione Sferisterio in Macerata. More recently, she made important debuts in the title roles of Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, a role subsequently revisited at the Teatro alla Scala, Giovanna d'Arco at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, La donna del lago at the Rossini Opera Festival, and Marin Faliero at the Teatro Regio di Parma. She has just debuted at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo as Antonia in Les contes d'Hoffmann and in the role of Marguerite in Faust at Teatro Real in Madrid, and has taken part in a new production of Idomeneo in Ancona, for the re-opening of the Teatro delle Muse. |
